Key Facts

  • The original Newborough Bar was a prison and was built in the 1640s.  It was demolished in 1843 and replaced with a gothic arch that was demolished just 47 years later as it was an impendiment to traffic

 

  • The Town Hall was built in the 1840s for John Woodall and was originally a private house.  In 1899 it was built by Scarborough Corporation and opended as the Town Hall in 1903
